Translatable Verbal Script:
Here’s how each note duration is counted in rhythm in a 4/4 timing signature.
Notice the numbers, ampersand (&) and lower case (e) and (a) are used to voice beat.
This is commonly used when voicing and clapping the beat and timing.
In 4/4 Timing, there are 4 beats per measure and the quarter note is one beat.
Remember, the tempo will change the speed of the music. The faster the tempo, the faster you count the beat, and the slower the tempo, the slower you count. But each note duration counts the same per beat.
So let’s count 4/4.
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and
1 e and a, 2 e and a, 3 e and a, 4 e and a.
1, 2, 3 and, 4 and a
1 and 2 and 3 e and a 4
